| Camp Michi-Wawa is located on Catfish Lake just 10 miles North of Wawa on Hwy 17 North, the only camp in the Wawa area situated on a Lake. These are the closest "Drive To" housekeeping facilities to the Magpie River System (Steephill Reservoir), the are most abundant with Walleye and Northern Pike. This water system would be your main source of fishing within a 10 min drive from camp to the docking area. The scenic Magpie River System is approximately 18 miles in length and vary in width from 1/4 mile to 1 mile, with 100's of miles of shore line above the Dam. Depths vary from 8ft to 200ft plus. The Northern Pike averaging 4 to 5 pounds and as large as 25 pounds. Location of the Walleye holes is a little more challenging, and when located can produce good eating size fish. Average Walleye size is 2 to 3 pounds with occasional 5 to 10 pounders. During the prime time fishing (early spring and late fall) a couple of serious anglers can produce 100 plus fish per day. During the slower times (July and August) catching your limit is of no difficulty. We provide maps of the river and a 1Hr fishing seminar prior to your fishing trip above the dam and also below the dam while you canoe and fish for brook trout. After your relaxing day of fishing, we will instruct you on cleaning your Northern Pike "Boneless" for your eating enjoyment. |
